Self-Empathy

When:
Mon, 06/01/2009 - 7:15pm - 9:30pm

The topic of this workshop is ‘Self-Empathy’, the process of connecting non-judgmentally with one's own feelings and needs, and the (huge) contribution this makes when we attempt to practice Nonviolent Communication.

I will introduce exercises that can help us achieve self-connection and understanding of our own needs.
We will look at ways the process can help even in real-time, and we will also see how it can help prepare us when difficult situations are coming up.

In offering this workshop, I am particularly thinking of those who have embraced the ideas of Nonviolent Communication but are having a lot of trouble practicing it. I made a huge step forward when I learned about self-empathy. I did not realize that I could sort out these powerful forces – that I needed to hear myself and acknowledge all of my own needs if I truly wanted to find strategies that worked for everyone.

The workshop is in Takoma Park.
The fee is sliding scale, what you can joyfully pay, $5 - $20.
