* Laugh uncontrollably!

*Ahimsa simply means nonviolence, the largest love, the greatest charity. Ahimsa was introduced to the West by the Mahatma Gandhi. It is the principle of respect for all life and the practice of non-injury to living things. It is based on the belief that violence has harmful effects on those who commit it. Ahimsa was applied to social change by Mahatma Gandhi in India's struggle for independence.

OUR DAYS TOGETHER: We will utilize Open Space Technology so each participant can pursue what they are passionate about. Play in the Wild! Trek Leaders will share their passions and practices for being nonviolence – this could include Nonviolent Communication skills, history, art, yoga, Tai Chi, Medicine Poetry, Vision Quest, Sweat Lodge, Dancing Lodge, and cultural traditions. Participants will be encouraged to lead on topics of their own passionate interest. We will take two nights out into the wild with a journey canoeing to an island on the North Carolina coast. On our closing night together, we will present art and performance to the local community to “give away” what we have learned, followed by a Dancing Lodge Celebration.

LIVING IN COMMUNITY: We will create a safe nonjudgmental environment focused on Ahimsa. This requests each of us to leave alcohol, recreational drugs, guns, weapons, and smoking at home. We will engage in the practices of becoming more attuned to what motivates us and choosing strategies that will bring the most aliveness and connection to ourselves and with the group.

CERTIFICATES/CREDIT: Hours from this training can be applied to certification with the Center for Nonviolent Communication and may apply towards course study in certain schools or CEU's. You will receive a certificate for 9 days of Nonviolent Communication training.

FOOD: We will create a rotation of leadership and support in the kitchen to provide meals for the whole group. In the practice of Ahimsa, we will provide organic vegetarian meals. In the practice of Play in the Wild!, these will be gourmet, unique, delicious flavors from around the world.

COST: We offer our work freely in service to peace. At the same time, we request a monetary contribution of $695 to cover the costs of this unique camp as well as offer support for the Staff who make it all possible. We ask for an initial non-refundable deposit of $125 to set an intention of commitment and hold your place on the circle. The remainder is due in full by June 5. We also offer monthly payment plans, for those who are interested. Please contact us if you would like help finding a creative solution for covering your tuition. If you are financially able to contribute more to support the sustainability of trek leaders and to ensure that nobody is turned away for lack of funds, consider giving to our Support Fund.
